"N***ga with a Trek 9 tryin' to take mine...."

What's up kids? Picked up a new toy over the weekend...gotta add a little cardio into the mix... It's a 2011 Trek 4300 4 Series MTB.
Equipped with Front Shocks w/ Lockout and Hydraulic Disc Brakes...it also has a plethora of Shimano components. We all know how awesome Shimano products are(wink wink). Simply put, this is one fine machine. This was exactly what I was looking for to start out. This will do for me for now. If I ever upgrade, it'll be either the Cannondale SL series 29er or the Specialized RockHopper Pro 29er. But for now, I'm looking forward to hitting the trails with my Lexus buddies...Outro

From Vegas to Cal City to Randsburg...trying to do it all

What's up guys...

It's been quite some time since my last blog. I've been busy attending the SEMA show, planning my Cruise vacation next March, and exploring new places. So I promised my buddy Dyno Danny I'd post an update. Here it goes...

I just picked up a couple custom made rods from Performance Tackle that I ordered back in May. I must say, they are simply gorgeous! Both are made for fishing Swimbaits(both hard and soft, Fresh or Saltwater), so I made one for each. They are telescoping blanks and they're so closely guarded, I don't even know what kind of blanks they are. The owner of Performance Tackle, Marc Hyashi, only tells us he and his partner developed these rods. That's it. They're only available in 3 actions, Light...Medium...or Heavy. All are 8ft in length and will break down to around 6ft, which is perfect for storing in my Champion rod locker. I opted for the Medium(dubbed the SBRX80M). I briefly fished one rod with the Lunker Punker Jr.and it walks this bait PERFECTLY!!! I have yet to test it on the saltwater bass, so stay tuned.

Both rods are "Down Wrapped"...old chinese method to reduce friction caused by the fishing line touch the blank itself.
I also took up my uncle's offer to spend last weekend with him and buddies in California City, riding OHV's...we set up shop near the water tower. I drove the Yamaha Rhino all weekend and had a killer time!
Here's a still shot from my new toy...the Go Pro Hero2 camcorder...(more from this awesome camera in the near future...)
We rode into Randsburg and took in the sights...Hooligan style!
Til next time folks!!!

Morning Sesh...

Took the "Water Dog" out on the local pond again and found a slower pick on the Bass today...only managed half a dozen biters for 5 hours. They are definitely in the Summer-to-Fall transition and are still eating the 6-inch Erhler's Edge hot tip on the dropshot. The fish today were holding tight to the submerged scattered brush piles. The lack of presence of the Threadfin Shad has these bass keyed on other forage...mainly Bluegill, Baby Bass, and Crawfish. Also got a couple fish on Blue Crawler today as well...

Pics of our outing...typical specimen

Loaded up and ready to roll home...

Chewed...

Organized the Annual DCH Lexus of Oxnard charter aboard the "Island Spirit" last weekend out of Ventura Sportfishing.

Had a decent pick on the Barracuda and Sand Bass off the Ventura Flats...they bit a variety of lures that day.

Hats off to the crew aboard the "Island Spirit". Greg,Jesse,Johnny,Jake,Alvin, and Kathy deserve a big round of applause.

My custom "Frozen Chovy" Waxwing works needless to say...the Cuda would not leave it alone!
Charlie used the factory Black/Chrome pattern with equal success today as well...
The grumpy Sandbass loved the Warbait Slayer Swimjig hopped on the bottom. The Scrambled/Big Hammer Bay Smelt combo was the hot ticket.
The only other plastic bait that worked today...Pearl's Ghost Grunion...one of my new favorite colors as of late.
 My work bench...

The "Freelance" out of Davey's Locker and "Calico Hunter 3" out of Ventura are the next scheduled trips...the adventure rolls on...cheers from your Captian

Modified Waxwing Jigs...

Got bored and decided to buy a couple Bone colored Waxwings to modify.

Since Shimano offers their Waxwing in only a few select colors, I wanted to paint a couple of them West Coast baitfish patterns.

I wanted a Smelt color...a Sardine color...and an Anchovy color...check em out!

Modeled after Big Hammer's "Bay Smelt" color...
This one is modeled after Pearl's "Frozen Chovy"...

My Sardine pattern is next...

Then detailed my other Boat for the annual Sespe Creek Carshow in Fillmore,Ca on the 4th...she's an all original 1962 Lincoln Continental Sedan...and true to the words of Durrough, "Cream on the inside, Cream on the outside..."

Old School nolstalgia...

What a weekend...the weather was warm...the fish were on the chew...the Beers were flowing...cruising in style...life is good...and it's great to be an American! Happy 4th Folks!
